Hello readers,
Since I personally know very few of the actual founders of TND, I feel a need to articulate the reasons why I, and the others on liberalelites decided to join the site. I first heard about this site from Ms. Leibowitz, with whom I interned with at Joseph and Herzfeld this past summer. The site seemed really attractive because of the depth and scope of the columns. Also, the diversity of thought within the liberal movement, as well as the fair representation allowed to people with dissenting points of view, is really appealling to myself, and the rest of the staff here at liberalelites.
In a world where talk radio, and state controlled television (Fox News) appear to dictate the terms on which issues are to be debated, it is refreshing to find a site where the politics of personal destruction are not the norm. Too often, liberal media, in an attempt to counteract the destructive lies of the right, reccurs to the same methods employed by those furies of hate on the opposite end of the political spectrum. Fortunately, TND offers a different approach, one that centers on the substance of the issues and not the superficial one-liners that have so diminished public discourse in American politics.
So, on behalf of those of us at "liberalelites", we hope you enjoy this site and get back to us if you would like to reply to any of our columns.
Sincerely,
Abigail Beckerman
